Moms-to-Be! I remember the time I was working with a client whose baby is six weeks old. She just had a big surprise - she went back to work and found out that the company wanted to replace her or offer her part-time work with a substantial pay cut. This unexpected challenge brought out the mother lioness in my client. SheThis week's topic is Finding Your Fierceness! Scroll down to Your Coaching Moment to find yours. All the best from your coach, I am a mother lion for ALL of my kids - my three step-daughters and my little guy!

Finding Your Fierceness There is something amazing that happens as you become a mother. Motherhood seems to bring out new levels of courage and strength. I watch mothers all the time spring into action to protect and provide for their new baby. New moms are often surprised by the intensity of their feelings -- the deep drive to ensure that their baby is safe and well cared for. It can go from tending to baby's immediate needs all the way to wanting to make a better world for their child to grow up in.This mother lioness energy doesn't just show up after the baby arrives. Most moms-to-be experience that feeling of "don't mess with me or my child" somewhere during the nine months. Whether it's the woman whose hand automatically goes to protect her belly when a car runs a stop sign or the woman who used to be a workaholic and starts saying "no" to twelve hour work days. Your new found ferocity will serve you well as you move into motherhood. After the baby arrives, you might be sleep deprived and exhausted, but you will also be energized and on fire with protecting your family and new life. This courage and motivation is a force to be reckoned with. You can be fiercely protective of your baby, your family, your values, and your personal priorities. Use the fire of motherhood to respond to every change and challenge you encounter in the coming months. COACH YOURSELF: Take a moment and think about what you want to protect. Find your fierceness and use it to create what you need for your new life. Email me at amy@empoweredmotherhood.com and share what you came up with. And click here to see our newsletter archive. |
