Glorious Moms-To-Be, One of my little boy's favorite games is to put something in a bag and
play Santa. We can put almost anything in the bag - it's the fun of giving and receiving that he loves. I have to
admit, it's one of my favorite games too. He is so excited every time - All the best from your coach, Matt likes being Santa best!

| Receiving & Giving How good are you at giving? How good are you at receiving? Rate yourself on each right now - on a scale of 1 (not great at all) to 10 (amazing). Take a look at those numbers. Reflect on them – are you comfortable with your score? Usually we are better at one than the other & I often find that mothers – no matter what stage of motherhood – are better at giving than receiving. Most women have issues or carry some baggage around giving & receiving. Think about what would be different for you if the numbers were higher or maybe if the numbers were more in balance? What would be possible in your life? How would your impact on others change? I want you to contemplate what it would be like to be a balanced, gracious giver and receiver. There is something quite beautiful to me in the vision of that kind of circle of giving & receiving. An ease and a flow – like fine music or poetry. Harmonious. Today I am focusing on receiving as the way to start the cycle. Receiving then giving. What I know is that when you receive, you literally have more to give. Think about it – if you never receive, what do you have to give? Whether it is graciously receiving a raise at work, an interest free loan from your parents, hand-me down items for your baby from your neighbor, your best friend paying for your latte, people volunteering to make you meals post partum, or just receiving your God-given, nature given or universe given talents and strengths. When you fully receive, you have more to give. More money, more energy, more time, more ideas, more material goods, even more love. COACH YOURSELF: I challenge you today to create harmony in your circle of giving & receiving. Take on the perspective that gracious receiving is the energetic force that enables you to graciously give. Now pick a person or situation where you can truly receive – openly, graciously, joyfully – without reservations. Who or what has been trying to give you something and you keep pushing it away? Go ahead and receive! Email me at amy@empoweredmotherhood.com and share what you experience. And click here to see our newsletter archive. |
