| Beautiful, Bountiful Mothers! My goodness! I have not done a newsletter since August. I have been taking a few months to rethink the company (more on that next month). I am happy to be connecting with all of you today. I have much to be grateful for this season including a little boy who just turned three years old. Amazing to think about all that I have learned and experienced in these first three years of motherhood. All the best from your coach, Matt about to blow out his candles! |

The Gift of Gratitude So much is extraordinary about being a mother. The miracle of birth. The ongoing miracle of life - the life of your child. The way they grow and change. The way YOU grow and change. The constant new in the midst of the every day. And the unexpected gifts - for me it was my boy Matt saying, "Mom, I love you," while he was sitting on the toilet this morning! At times like this, you feel blessed indeed.Feeling grateful is effortless when you’re filled with joy. It’s a skill to feel grateful when you’re not. Whether you’re dealing with sleep deprivation, battling your child over homework/eating/bedtime/fill in the blank, or just drowning in the 24 hour cycle of doing IT all over again, it's all too easy to feel grumpy and irritable. But, the gift of gratitude truly can turn any not so perfect scenario into practically paradise. If you can be grateful in the moment, suddenly the boundary pushing of your child (from toddler to teenager) is an amazing sign of growth and a developing autonomy. Yet another meal to cook turns into an opportunity to connect and nourish your family - physically and emotionally. Your child's tears or tantrum when you leave for a much deserved night out is a reminder of the deep bond you have with your child. Even arguments with your loved ones when your nerves are shot can become a reminder that you’re not alone. Gratitude cultivates happiness. No matter what circumstances you’re in, no matter how close or far you feel to the ideal life you want to create, being grateful for what you do have can make you feel that your life is very near perfect. The shift from grumpiness to gratitude is a conscious skill and one worth having. Start practicing gratitude now! Here is one strategy to try. Find value in discontent: This tool is an escape route out of self-pity. It means noticing when you’re dwelling on the negative and choosing to be grateful for it instead. For instance, let’s say you’re struggling with the financial pressures of having a family. Gratitude is to be thankful for those financial pressures, for they’re helping you rethink your life and forcing you to rearrange your priorities. Or maybe you have the flu or a cold. In the midst of the inconvenience and/or discomfort, gratitude means being thankful for the opportunity to slow down and take care of yourself. The difficulties in life can connect you to gratitude in a deep and meaningful way, helping you to get through them, and yes, even be thankful. COACH YOURSELF: Pick something that you have been feeling grumpy about. Now find the value. What is there to be grateful about? What are you overlooking?
