THIS WEEK'S TOPIC: Taking A Break

Hey Mommas!

This week I am on vacation. I've been calling it a quasi vacation because my fabulous childcare provider is on vacation which means I'm on vacation by default. So, I get a week of dedicated Matt & Mommy time! However, because there is so much going on with the new book and radio show, Amy with MatthewI am still trying to work when Matt is sleeping. This has all made me think about how hard it can be to really take a break.

This week’s newsletter is about knowing when and how to take a break. Scroll down to Your Coaching Moment to learn more!

All the best from your coach,

YOUR COACHING Moment

Taking a Break!

How good are you at taking a break? Do you stop and rest when you are tired or do you push through? When you are hungry, do you eat? When you are stressed, do you go do the things that bring you back into balance?

Back when you were expecting your baby, you were forced to slow down. You had a compelling reason to take care of yourself, because taking care of yourself was literally taking care of your baby. Now, whether you are a new or experienced mother, taking a break is probably not your best skill.

Life is always filled with more things to do, places to be and people to please than can be accomplished. Think about it right now - how many times in your life have you felt "done?" That level of "done" that everyone looks for so that they can ... take a break.

The art of taking a break when everything is NOT done is one of the best skills to perfect as a mom.  It requires you to be comfortable with leaving things for later. It demands a certain level of trust, faith and self-entitlement. Your ability to know when and how to take a break is integral to your life as a mother.

When you take a break you will absolutely have more patience, energy, stamina, insight and kindness. For your children, your husband or partner, your friends AND for yourself.

COACH YOURSELF: I want you to practice taking a break for the next 24 hours. When you are working (inside or outside of the home) - walk out of your office or house for 5 or 10 minutes, just to clear your head. When you are caught up in cleaning or cooking - stop what you are doing and put on some music and dance around for a moment. You get the idea.
